I'I'm sure you've all heard about the granting of the permit to build 23villas on the hillside above Ramla l-Hamra. This is one of the most scandalous decisions to hit the Maltese environment, because not only will it destroy this almost untouched, beautiful landscape, but it violates many MEPA and even EU regulations.
Now just so you have a clear picture, this is what they want to screw with:
I'm tired as hell from studying all night but DAMN, I did NOT see Bush declaring that Kosovo has to be independent coming. Wow. I wonder what he has to gain from all this, maybe to get back in the UN's good books again? Watching his warm welcome in Albania was so surreal, never thought I'd see the day :P Current Mood: tired
07:10 pm - Eurovision blues Well. This Eurovision is gonna suck. I guess I'll side with Bosnia, but I'll enjoy bitching about all the countries who made it through to the final. For Malta it's a national tragedy since people pretty much don't even go to work when it's Eurovision Day. You can't even go to the local grocer's without having to hear "what a terrible thing" happened to Olivia, and to our nation as a whole lol. And I love it :D
04:17 pm - Cija cikla tako rumena... Dedicated to ferociousfairy and snowbunny1983, they will know why :P As for the others, you'll either get it or you won't (it's actually a parody of last year's Croatian Eurovision song by Severina, only the parody is better than the real thing) Obozavam ovo XD
06:37 pm - It's too hard to be altruistic these days Ok so I thought that to be a volunteer, one had to be simply a giving, genuine person who'd like to do something small for the greater good. WRONG. You also need a TRUCK LOAD of money, apparently. After browsing some sites, I found this site which made me flip out with glee. That is, until I kept reading. Basically, they want 200 quid (English) for food/accommodation costs. I will apply anyway and tell them my thoughts (in a non pissed of manner, of course) but this is seriously unfair. I am a poor student for God's sake. They're'e English however and might have compassion for my non elite situation, or just delete and ignore me and give the spot to some Westerner who not only has no idea of the region itself, but only wants to decorate his/her CV. Ok crossing the line into bitchy, yaay :D
Has anyone of you ever volunteered? Got any tips or suggestions? Current Mood: cranky Current Music: Chasing Pandora - Swallowed in the Sea
07:21 pm - Brain does not work so gonna be superficial :P Yesterday we went to watch the Milan - Man U game at Time's Square, one of our fave pubs in Sliema. Maria was forced to take some of her students to watch the game so she sent out a distress call to Benna and I and of course, loving football, I got my Man U loving self down to Sliema. It was insane. We ended up watching the whole game with 20 rowdy 18 year old Italian guys, faces painted red and black, chanting their Milan songs and causing so much noise that at one point, we had all 5 security guys around us. Of course, I kept the fact that I support Manchester United *sings* to myself, well, until after the first beer anyway and after that my facial expressions pretty much spoke for themselves. Ah the satisfaction of winning after them taking the piss the whole time :P
Tonight we're going to watch an REM tribute band at the Alley. Entrance is free (the way we like it) and there should be a cool bunch of people.
The weekend? Oh it was craaazy. And international. The Italians convinced us to go out with them this weekend, should be amusing if nothing else :P Did I say the weekend was crazy? Some proof :P
04:54 pm - Ljubljana? Nothing gets my flist more revved up than me talking about food, I love it :D On my second day eating burek and I still can';t believe I'm eating it :P My mum bought a pack of ready made "juhke", which was met with my insane laughter since I KNOW she'll never make it :D
Onto a dilemma I have. Erasmus: yay or nay? I was looking forward to saying "yay" to the Universita Di Trieste, since it's a good one and it's 2 hours from Istra plus I know people there but half an hour ago I check the website and see that it is no longer a choice O_O This is my university list of places I can go. My major is I.R. I almost dropped from my seat when I saw that there was ONE place at the University of Ljubljana, for an I.R. student. Waaaah me confused. Any advice or virtual slaps? :) Current Mood: confused
07:04 pm - Favourite Food = Happiness Burek. Tons of chocolate (Kras & Milka). Zvijezda majoneza, Gavrilovic pasteta, Walter Wolf cigareee :P Mum is back, I gotta go :D Current Mood: bouncy

My friends are seriously insane. Yesterday, three hours before she was due to hop on a ship and take her cruise around the Med, Rachel smses pleading with me to come online because she needed some info. Turns out she's going to be going to Dubrovnik for the day and hadn't so much as seen a picture of the place, let alone know something about it. So yeah, I "hooked her up" in the blink of an eye and told her it was expensive, for good measure :P Seriously, I haven't been there in years and I keep hearing the prices are through the roof. I remember talking with some girls who Masa studied with who are from Dubrovnik, and I seemed to have hit home when I asked them if they ever felt like Dubrovnik wasn't *theirs* anymore, to which they nodded frantically before telling me everything they thought about the tourism boom in their town. Had nothing good to say :P
So. One friend's cruising around the Med, another is in Sicily and another group of friends are planning a long weekend in Gozo, while I languish in this heat and console myself with my beach which is down the road, football, foreigners and booze. Pity me pls :P I considered going to Gozo for a split second but then remembered how much it cost me last time around and decided to forget the whole thing. See, here it's the norm to rent luxurious farmhouses equipped with jacuzzi and a swimming pool, the booze flows freely and well, it'll cost you a bundle and since I'm planning to get on a plane later this summer, well you get the point. Being flat broke will have to wait until I get to get back from Croatia :) Which brings me to the picture cue!
04:19 pm - Heat. Scorching. Exhausting... 40 C Yeah now you know why I'm not updating =/ On the brightside, I'm spending every free moment at the beach :D I'll write something once I can actually think straight. Current Mood: hot Current Music: Rain - Madonna (how fitting)
For people who don't understand Croatian, they're all singing Croatian songs, the Japanese guy is singing the anthem lol and they're doing that for some Karlovacko :P Haha the Japanese guy is the best :D Croatia plays these teams next week, may God help us with Brazil!
